What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a Vedic natural medicine that is more than 5,000 years old. The word "ayurveda" comes from Sanskrit and consists of two syllables "ayur" (life) and "veda" (knowledge, wisdom). Literally translated: "knowledge of life." It is from it that Chinese and Tibetan medicine originated. Ayurveda is not just another alternative medicine, but a well-established and complete healing system. Experts on this medicine say that one would have to study 120 years to know it thoroughly.

This ancient knowledge does not only apply to practical health advice. It represents the interconnection of four fundamental elements: body; mind, soul and senses. He stresses the importance of happiness, without which, life is agony. Ayurveda teaches how we should take care of our physical, mental and spiritual health.

What is an Ayurvedic massage?

Massage is a fundamental element of traditional Indian medicine called Ayurveda. Ayurveda deals not only with health, but is also a philosophy and art of living. He gives us advice on how to take care of our bodies and minds and live in balance with the world around us. In the Hindu tradition, massage is practiced in families for the hygiene of life, but also for medicinal purposes. Thus, it is not only an anti-stress and relaxation measure, but also a preventive and therapeutic one. For many Indians, it is considered as important to health and beauty as proper diet and other healthy lifestyle teachings. The most important thing in ancient massage techniques is the movement of vital energy in the human body called prana, which needs to be brought back into balance when it is imbalanced.

Ayurveda

What kind of energy is it? Where does it come from?

In ayurveda as in yoga, prana is the life force, the energy that is in the Universe and from which the Universe is built. No living species, nature itself, or the universe can exist without prana, which is the cosmic energy that keeps us alive. On a physical level, prana is symbolized by the element of air - understood as the air we breathe to live, and as the force that sustains the circulation of all fluids and the functioning of all internal systems, including the digestive, circulatory and nervous systems. If prana does not circulate properly in the body, blockages, or knots, form and chronic health ailments begin to appear. A full-body massage allows the release of vital energy, or prana to stimulate its circulation on both the physical and emotional levels.
